“Thanks to everyone for putting on a great show for the December Noted to a record audience. Must have been the mince pies that brought them in (thanks Stu). We had incredible variety as ever including Sarah using her flute to imitate a guitar (seems like a great option to me), Rick pulling off an Eddy Van Halen number which was “incredibly difficult” according to Stu M and a Noted first with Jamie and Pete giving us a double drum solo which I understand to have loosened the plaster in the ladies toilet.
The Noted awards were presented by Stu and we had a number of first timers including Natasha doing a great job backed by Pete w and Becca forming another Father Daughter duo with Paul and winning everyone over despite a sore throat. Christmas cheese was served up by Jill, Chris, Hutch with Mike W standing in at the last minute for Tom Jones as we surely “did” Delilah and no one could take anymore. Very Happy Christmas to you all and don’t forget the holidays are the perfect time to get some practice in ready for our first Noted of 2009 on Jan 18th. See you then.”
From entertainment editor Stuart Crawford
We thought we couldn't let our first anniversary pass without some inaugral Noted awards. There were four categories:
Noted's 'stoic drummer award, for presistance in the face of musical adversity' went to Pete Kearton for his excellent support to all of the performers during the year - many thanks Pete and we promise to cut down on the drummer jokes next year.
A fiercly fought category was the specialist award for Noted's 'big cheese' of the year, for consistent contributions to Cheesy music - this went to Graham Boler who has taken 'cheese' to a whole new level of ripeness, (his performance of Volare - need we say more!)
In the spirit of Noted we don't particulary single out 'excellence' (which for most of us is a good job), so the third category was Noted's 'well at least someone's practised something properly award' - This went to Jamie Arrowsmith for his superb hi-hat drum solo last month, nice one Jamie.
'Notee of the year' award - our most prestigious honour, went to Chrs Rogers for his consistent contribution to the club and for being an all round good guy - we were thinking of buying him a guitar tuner, but we realised he wouldn't know how to use it! Well done Chris.
Next noted is 18th January 2009 at 7:30pm. Hosts for the evening will be Mike Lawless and Paul Simmons. Submissions by the usual methods.

Finally, from the 5 or 6 regular notees that met a year ago to choose between closure and a new format for 2008, huge thanks to the 50 or more performers and guests who have made the year an unbelievable success.
